Preamble & Core Philosophy

Froan is built exclusively for people who find magic in the grain, cut, and backstory of stone ornaments. This privacy policy is not a generic legal formality—it is a transparent promise of how we will care for the personal stone archives, craftsmanship notes, aesthetic judgments, and observation insights you entrust to our tool.

Our foundational principle is simple: your stone collection stories are yours alone. We build tools to help you curate, organize, and appreciate your collection—not to claim ownership over your work, or monetize your personal data.

This policy is tailored specifically to the unique types of data you create in Froan: multi-angle photography archives of individual stone pieces, material and craftsmanship notes, style categorization tags, and personal reflection insights. No generic template language here—every clause below maps directly to the features you use.

Data We Collect (And What We Don't)

We collect only the minimum data required to run Froan's features, and never collect data unrelated to your use of the tool. All intellectual property rights to the archive content you create (photos, notes, tags, insights) remain fully and exclusively yours—we claim no ownership over any of your original content.

Data You Voluntarily Provide

• Stone archive content: Multi-angle photographs you upload for individual stone ornaments, material specifications (e.g. marble type, granite origin), craftsmanship notes (e.g. polishing technique, carving era), aesthetic evaluations, custom style tags, and personal observation insights you record.
• Optional account information: If you choose to create a cloud sync account, we only collect a username of your choice and contact email address. You are never required to create an account to use Froan's full offline functionality.
• Voluntary feedback: If you reach out to us with feature requests, bug reports, or support queries, we will retain the content of your message and contact information only for as long as needed to respond to your request.

Automatic Data We Collect (Minimal & Anonymous)

• App performance data: Non-identifiable crash logs, load times for archive features, and error reports that help us fix bugs and improve stability. This data is never linked to your personal archive content.
• Aggregate usage trends: Anonymous, de-identified data about which features are used most frequently (e.g. how many users categorize collections by carving style, how many upload 5+ photos per stone entry). This data is aggregated across all users and cannot be traced back to individual accounts.

Data We Never Collect Automatically

• We never access photos in your device gallery that you do not explicitly select to add to your Froan archive.
• We never collect your GPS location data unless you manually add a location tag to an individual stone entry as part of your personal notes.
• We never collect data from other apps on your device, your contact list, or your browsing history outside of Froan.

How We Use Your Data

We only use your data to operate and improve Froan's features, and never for purposes you did not explicitly agree to:

• Core feature operation: To process and organize your stone archive as you requested: grouping multi-angle photos for individual entries, sorting your collection by the style tags you create, making your notes searchable, and syncing your archive across devices if you opt in to cloud sync. All core processing happens locally on your device by default—your data only leaves your device if you actively enable cloud sync.
• Product improvement: To refine existing features and build new ones based on how the community uses Froan. For example, if we see many users adding custom tags for nephrite jade characteristics, we may add a pre-built jade material template to make documentation faster. We never use your personal archive content (photos, notes, insights) for product improvements unless you explicitly opt in to share anonymous examples.
• Support communication: To respond to your support requests, feedback, or questions you send to our team. We will never reach out to you with unsolicited marketing messages, product announcements, or newsletters unless you explicitly opt in to receive them.

Hard Limits: What We Will Never Do With Your Data

Data Sharing Rules

Froan does not share your personal data with external parties except in the narrow, extreme cases described below — and even then, we share only the absolute minimum necessary data:

• Legal obligation only: We may disclose data if required by a valid court order, applicable law, or government regulation, but only after verifying the request’s validity and limiting disclosure to the narrowest scope possible.
• Protection of harm: We may share limited data if necessary to prevent immediate, serious physical harm or financial loss to you or other users.

We do not share data with marketing firms, data brokers, research institutions, social media platforms, or commercial partners for any reason. Our only technical partners are cloud storage providers (for optional sync) who operate under strict privacy contracts and cannot access or use your content for their own purposes.

Your Full Control Rights

You maintain complete, unrestricted control over your stone collection data at all times. All controls are built directly into Froan with no hidden steps or waiting periods:

Security & Data Protection

We protect your stone archive with industry-standard security practices designed for privacy and durability:

• All photos and data are encrypted locally on your device and during transmission to our servers
• Cloud-synced data is stored in encrypted environments with strict access controls
• We perform regular security audits to maintain protection against unauthorized access
• Temporary files are automatically deleted daily; no unused or redundant data is retained
• Internal team access to user data is limited to only what is necessary for support requests

Our greatest security measure is our privacy-first design: we simply do not collect or store any non-essential data, leaving nothing exposed unnecessarily.

Policy Updates

We may update this privacy policy occasionally to reflect new features, improve clarity, or maintain compliance with best practices.

• Minor clarifying updates will be posted here with a revised effective date
• Material changes to data practices will be notified in-app and via email at least 30 days before taking effect
• We will never reduce privacy protections without giving you the choice to disable sync or delete your account
• Your continued use of Froan after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy

This policy will always reflect our real practices — we will never use misleading or unenforceable legal language.
